IFC Office in Jakarta now is seeking to recruit:

Crop Modellist
The Crop Modi:llist is an indiv;idual consultant to help the development of Agri-insurance Product in Indonesia, specifically Weather Index Insurance (WII) ("the Project"). The Project is intended to determine the fundamental feasibility of WII in Indonesia t'f enable IFC to make concrete decisions on the type of WII related advisory services as well as investment interventions, which may be successful in Indonesia. The consultant will work with the IFC team to bring together: a) expertise in maize growth models cteated for Indonesian production' and climate; and (b) expertise in the design of rainfall index insurance products in other counTes.

Duties and Accountabilities:
· Advise on maize cultivation requirements, practices and calendars in the selected sites
· Assemble necessary data for maize agro-meteorologicalmodeling (e.g. soil characteristics, water holding capacity, PET, etc) in the selected sites, as well as varieties/production systems at those sites
· Simulate 30 years of maize yields for the selected sites through the use of models proposed by CRMG (WRSI, DSSA1) or models in use by the consultant
· Support the IFC team in using modeled yield series to structure drought index insurance contracts
· Participate in index insurance contracts field testing with key farmer groups in the pilot locations; and
· Participate in workshops/meetings organized with stakeholders in the selected sites and present the outcome of the research activity.

Selection Criteria:
1. A Master's level degree (or superior) in Agriculture Sciences or related specialty
2. A demonstrated minimum 10 years of experience in the use of crop models for research purposes;
3. Sound knowledge of maize cultivation as well as familiarity with maize cultivation areas (mainly Eastern Indonesia) that will be the location of Weather Index Insurance pilot working will be specially valued for selection
4. 4. Interest in developing agricultural insurance applications
5. 5. Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Bahasa jndonesia are essential; and
6. Willingness to travel in,the country, particularly to South Sulawesi, NTT and NTBregions.

This position is subject to renewable short tenn contract with an initial duration of 3 (three) months, paid in local
.currency. The employee will be station in Jakarta with frequent travel to Eastern Indonesia regions. People from Eastern
